What does the flashing light mean?

Solid Green Light: You will see the solid green light when power is first connected to the Orchid™ or the power tab is snapped on the Orchidplus™ or Orchidswitch™. Green light flashing at 1 second intervals: This means that device is currently looking a request - Standard, this happens in 30 minute intervals or more regularly if you have adjusted the response time on the Orchidswitch™. Green light flashing at 2 second intervals: This means that the device is Low power mode / sleep mode. I have a Red light? This can mean a couple of things: The device is hard wired incorrectly. The device does not have enough power from the battery source. The device is faulty - in this case, the device needs to be disconnected from the battery source immediately and returned to our head office so it can be tested by our technicians to determine the fault.

I cant find the green power light?

There are a couple of reasons why you may not be able to find the green power light.

  • If you have an Orchid™, this will need to be hardwired to a 12 to 24v battery source before you see the green light.
  • If you have either the Orchidplus™ or the Orchidswitch™, you will need to snap the power tab located adjacent from the power cables, above the LED.

Arrrrgh!!! "No GPS Signal"

There could be a couple of reasons why you are seeing this response. As you may be aware, to use GPS services, your antenna needs direct line-of-sight to the sky to receive signal. Here are a couple of things that may be causing the issue.
You are testing your device inside after activation
*Take your device outside in the open.
whatever you have installed the Orchid into, is now in the garage.
*Take your device outside in the open.
When Installing the device, you have attached the antenna to some form of metal.
*Attaching the antenna to any form of metal will reduce the capabilities of signal retrieval.
You have attached the antenna directly underneath some form of metal.
*The metal above will be interfering with the ability to receive signal.
The antenna has become disconnected from the device.
*Carefully push the connector back together, this must be done with the care as to not damage the connection.
If you are not comfortable in doing so, please send the device back to us and we can do it for you. Damaging this will void your warranty.
The battery you have the device connected too is below the 12v range - 9v cell batteries do not work.
*Contrary to common belief, Amps and Volts come in to play. You need a minimum 12v to have enough grunt to send and receive signal.
